Domaine des Ronces Chalasse (750ml)

Brilliant gold in glass.  Aromas range from light smoky notes (peat and gunpowder) to la frangipane, baked apple and brown butter.  The palate is lithe and energetic with concentrated fruit and those same flinty, citrus, baked apple and caramel notes, a little nutty and savory too.  At one fresh and fleshy in the mouth.  Chalk, citrus pith and spice persist on the finish.  This is a a balanced wine, showing some maturity and maintaining freshness.  It should develop over the next ten years, but can easily be enjoyed now.   Sip this with Compté cheese, tuna tartar or fish in brown butter sauce.
