Left Bank: Pessac-Leognan AC

Located south of the city of Bordeaux and home to the Cru Classe wines.  Cabernet Sauvignon is at home in the gravelly soil.  These wines tend to be a bit lighter in body than Haut-Medoc wines, more perfumed and maturing earlier.  The best dry white wines from Semillon and Sauvignon Blanc grapes come from this region.
